17" MacBook Pro - Phoenix

It's been 5 years since my G5 and since then i have been using PCs. Granted, I've gone through a few upgrades along the way, but since my last laptop was taken from me due to poor project planning, I had a choice. Do i get another PC laptop, or upgrade to a pretty 17" MacBook Pro fully loaded... (Our IT guy is a huge Mac fan) After toying with the idea, and convincing myself that surely this curse MUST be lifted by now, and the machine itself is supposed to be faster. I could run Bootcamp so i can still use Windows... and it is so pretty, and light, and pretty... did i mention pretty?... I was finally talked into going with the Mac... .... ..... uh... bad idea..

Bootcamp didn't lasted more than a couple months on my Mac. Continuous crashes of all applications and extreme lag forced the IT guy to migrate me over to the Mac OS.... I was once again, completely immersed in the Mac platform. I have to say, the Mac OS is SLICK. Spaces (if it worked all the time) is my favorite concept. All the little details to make it look SO good are great. I mean who wouldn't love to work in such a pretty environment?

... This was my trade off....

Within the year that i've had it.. my hard drive completely died on me, tick tick tick tick... squeeeee.... tick tick tick squeeeee...... it was replaced. (thank goodness spore saves all it's game data online! too bad all my work since my previous back up was destroyed!) My video card has done some really strange things...(photo below)

... it was replaced... how many hours i've had to watch the rainbow wheel of death spin ROUND AND ROUND AND ROUND AND ROUND while waiting for files to open, files to save, change from the arrow tool to marquee tool... applications crashing... and how many hundreds of crash reports sent to adobe to the point where i can't even be bothered to anymore.... in it goes again to repair... the logic board was replaced... and that shoulda done it right?? um... no...

i wouldn't be so bold to say EVERY day something happens, but things do happen frequently... best part is... my warrantee has expired! ... maybe my MacBook will finally die and put me out of my misery...

  1. I think maybe you should work for Mac. QA department obviously needs to meet you! *
